On-site accommodation

Main school building

We provide accommodation in Shrewsbury School boarding houses, from the night of Saturday 11th August to the night of Friday 17th August. For the cost of basic accommodation, you can expect:

  • Single study-bedrooms, some with twin beds
  • Shared single-sex bathrooms and shower-rooms
  • Bed linen, duvet and pillow supplied
  • TV lounge on each floor
  • Electric kettles on each floor
  • No laundry facilities or irons; but a free mid-week laundry service is available
  • Bring your own towels – we are unable to lend you one if you forget!

If you have a proven medical need (a doctor’s letter is required), we may be able to provide an en-suite bedroom. As there are few lifts, it is also important that you let us know of any mobility issues. Please list these details on the Application Form, if applicable.

It may be that at a later stage we will be able to offer an accommodation upgrade. If this is the case, you will be contacted by our Administrator and provided with details of the top-up fee payable.

ShrewsburyStaying off-site

In addition to the option of staying at the School itself, there is a large number of bed-and-breakfast accommodation in Shrewsbury. Be aware that the highly popular Shrewsbury Flower Show is taking place on 10th and 11th August 2012, so if you wish to stay in B&B accommodation we recommend that you book early to secure a room. A number of our students opt to stay off-site each year, and we maintain a list of B&Bs close to the School site that we will happily provide on request. You can also find details of local B&Bs using the Shrewsbury Guide. We regret that we are unable to make bookings on your behalf.

If you choose to stay off-site, your fee will cover the cost of lunch, dinner, tea and coffee, and attendance to lunchtime and evening concerts. Please be sure to calculate your travel time to the School; you should be able to arrive on-site by 8.45am.
