Come and sing Brahms!

On 3rd March 2012, the Rodolfus Choir will be holding a ‘Come and Sing’ event on Brahms’s Ein Deutsches Requiem in London. The choir is conducted by former ISSMUS tutor Ralph Allwood MBE; and attendees of ISSMUS 2011 will also recognise choral scholar Chris Webb at the event.

Euan Stevenson at ISSMUS

Following the success of Joe Stilgoe’s classes last year, we are delighted to announce that our jazz workshops this year will be run by acclaimed Scottish pianist Euan Stevenson. Euan is much in demand as a performer (both a soloist and accompanist), and is also a prolific composer and arranger; he is also a director of the independent record label Up on the 1 Records, and teaches at Dollar Academy and Strathclyde University. We look forward to welcoming Euan in August, when he’ll be working with our singers and pianists in workshop sessions. You can find out more about Euan from his website.

Choral workshop 2011

Following two excellent Choral Workshops with Jeffrey Skidmore and John Rutter in 2009 and 2010, we are proud to announce that our Choral Workshop leader for 2011 will be the distinguished composer and conductor James MacMillan. The Workshop is open to all members of the Choral Singing and Conducting Courses, and also to all day visitors. See our Choral Workshop page for more information.

Our full list of repertoire for Choral Singers and Conductors is now available, at the bottom of the course page. Several pieces also contain short solos, which will be auditioned during the week – so all singers should take a look! A number of the scores are available in web download formats (just click on the links provided).

Choral tutors 2011

We are delighted to announce that last year’s Choral Singing and Conducting tutors, Tim Brown and Robin Gritton, will be joined this year by vocal coach Karen Brunssen, an associate professor at Northwestern University, Chicago. In addition, our repetiteur for the week will be Cambridge organ scholar Ben Atkinson. We look forward to welcoming Karen and Ben to ISSMUS in August.
